Our Methodology

Great websites start with a strategy that is grounded in community.

Our method ensures that every website we build serves the people who use it.

The best architects begin with a thoughtful, detailed consideration of the people who will inhabit a space, then construct it to serve them.

When a space is done well, you may not notice every decision — but everything just…works. Things are where you expect them. It feels good to be there.

Websites are no different.

Good websites are designed like buildings.

People first

The methodology

We convene the right stakeholders and ask key questions: What does each of your audiences need to feel when they visit your website? What do you want them to do? What do you want them to remember and say about you? What are the strategic goals your website should actively support?

Discovery. Strategy. Build. Partnership.

01 — Discovery

Discovery is where the project begins. This is often the most valuable step — because it helps teams articulate what makes their institution distinctive and provides framework for understanding their web audience.

02 — Strategy

After the discovery process, we document the project goals and how the website will support them in a communications brief. The brief outlines the main messages for each segment of the web audience. Content strategy and information architecture are developed together because they require us to pose the same questions:

  • What does each group of people need, and where do they expect to find it?
  • What do we want our audiences think and feel about the institution?
  • What actions will they be inspired to take?

03 — Design and build

The look and feel of your site should feel like an authentic expression of who you are. This is also where we make the technical decisions — structure, performance requirements — informed by the strategic goals.

We build accessible, semantic HTML. This matters for the families using screen readers, for the prospective student navigating on a phone, and for the search engine trying to understand what your page is about.

We design to support your mission and build on open platforms. We build in WordPress using the block editor, which means your team can maintain and expand the site after launch without calling us for every change.

04 — Launch and Partnership

Our goal is to build a valuable partnership with every client. The handoff process includes training, documentation, and a period of added support post-launch, while you and your team gain confidence in the tools. On retainer, we’re available for future additions and revisions — whether that’s a microsite for a capital campaign, a homepage promotion for a special event, web copy for a new program, or a redesign of a section that isn’t performing.

Clarebourne Academy: a working demonstration

We built a website for a fictional K–12 independent school to show what it looks like when content strategy, structure, design, and platform work together.

The result is a fast, responsive, accessible, WordPress site using Così Digital’s integrated platform — calendar, virtual tour, athletics, and people management.
